SOLARPUNK LOUNGE

The Solarpunk Lounges regularly host events and workshops on other, older and new, often community- and degrowth-oriented approaches to engineering and technology, topics such as other (than fossil-based) ways of producing energy, more empowering and commons-based approaches to technologies beyond green capitalism, and other ways of orienting our relationship to the sun and the cosmos and more-than-human things and beings in general.

Please always remember: being solar isn't the same thig as having a solar cell in your pocket.

Note
: We generally don't have the time to translate every event in english.
Nevertheless, please note that even if an event announcement is only in german, you can always come by and we will try to find a common language or a way to organise translation for you.

In november 2024 the hq together with NIKI Hanover Residency invite  Martin Howse, to spent some time here and work on another research:

earthcode/ergot proposes an open laboratory and small library focusing on the culturing of the parasitic Claviceps Purpurea (ergot) fungus, its rich history and mythology and a speculative connection to contemporary software and logical infrastructural structures. During the short residency a working sketch will be implemented for the potential interactions of cultured ergot and the elements of an earth computer, allowing the earth to manipulate, code and store computational or logical structures. A small publication will also be produced, documenting ergot and associated research. The audience will be invited to witness and join parts of the readings/masquerade/offering-invocationresearch process, and potentially to contribute to the publication. earthcode/ergot extends the artist's previous research on projects such as Sketches for an earth computer, and Tiny Mining, a mineral exploration co-operative and community committed to the open source exploitation of the interior of the human body for rare earth and other mineral resources.

Towards the construction of a series of ergot incubators and prototype ruined/brutalist grain/ergot storage architectures, alongside the specification of an ergot network protocol and server architecture which runs across these incubation platforms. Examining intertwined “life/death” cycles of ergot, human grain storage and bread making, physiology of ergot poisoning and dosage, and storage/server technologies.

1.nov 7pm: presentation of the endeavor
and the connected research:
readings,
masquerade,offering-invocation, drinks, snacks

14.-18. nov 11am-6pm open lab - just come by, we're there -
